A new study made by Ditto, a music distribution company, reveals that 47.1% of independent musicians "would consider using AI songwriting tools" when writing music.

It's interesting that amidst the growing discontent with Gen AI among musicians and labels, independent artists prefer using artificial intelligence in their creative projects. Ditto surveyed 1,200 indie musicians to reveal that nearly 50% of them would use AI tools for songwriting. According to the same survey, 77% of musicians said they would use AI to create album artwork, 66% of the respondents might use AI for mixing and mastering, while 62% would use artificial intelligence for music production.

The portion of the artists who already have used AI for songwriting is 11%, with 23.1% saying they've used AI due to the "lack of creativity."

28.5% of the respondents said they'd never use AI for making music whatsoever.
