Apple is preparing to introduce an ambient music feature with the upcoming iOS 18.4 update, allowing users to play curated playlists directly from the Control Center. The feature, currently in beta, offers four preset categories, including productivity, wellbeing, chill, and sleep, while also providing the option to swap these out for any Apple Music playlist.
Subscribers to Apple Music will have more flexibility, with the ability to skip songs, select tracks, and save favourites into custom playlists. Those without a subscription can still access the feature, though playback will rely on Apple’s automated track selection based on the chosen mood.
The full release of iOS 18.4 is expected in April 2025, which will bring additional updates beyond the music feature. Apple Intelligence will introduce a new notification system that prioritizes important alerts, displaying them separately on the lock screen to reduce clutter.
