Spotify’s New Premium Tier: Lossless Audio, AI Mashups, & Ticket Perks Are Coming

Spotify’s long-teased lossless audio tier finally seems to be on its way. According to multiple reports, the streaming giant is set to introduce a new subscription level called “Music Pro” later this year, bundling CD-quality sound with AI-powered mashup features and exclusive concert ticket access. The service will reportedly cost an additional $5.99 per month.

Lossless audio has been a glaring omission in Spotify’s offering for years. Initially announced in 2021, the feature was shelved as competitors like Apple Music, Tidal, and Amazon Music moved ahead with their own high-fidelity streaming at no extra cost. Now, Spotify appears ready to enter the hi-res audio race, though at a premium price.

While lossless streaming is the headline feature, Music Pro subscribers will also gain access to AI-powered song mixing tools. Reports by Bloomberg and The Financial Times suggest that users will be able to blend tracks from different artists, though it’s unclear whether this will allow for full-fledged mashups or simply enhanced crossfading. Tidal currently offers some remixing tools, but Spotify’s take on the feature could push it further into interactive music experiences.

Another major perk of Music Pro will be increased access to concert tickets. Spotify already provides pre-sale codes and gig information, but this new tier is expected to expand those offerings, potentially giving subscribers access to better seats or more exclusive pre-sales. The company is reportedly in discussions with major promoters to solidify these deals.

Spotify’s move aligns with a broader industry push to monetise superfans—listeners who engage deeply with artists and are willing to pay extra for premium experiences. Analysts have long speculated about the potential of high-tier subscriptions, with Goldman Sachs forecasting a $4.5 billion ‘superfan addressable market’ by 2030.

Music Pro is expected to launch in phases later this year, though Spotify has yet to confirm exact timing or additional details.
