Earlier this year, Spotify rolled out its own music video catalogues on the platform, back then available in beta only in select twelve countries. Now, the streaming giant is expanding its music video feature to Premium users in 85 new markets worldwide. However, users in the United States will have to wait a little longer.

The beta test now includes access to music videos from artists like Charlie XCX, Doja Cat, Ed Sheeran, and others in regions such as Brazil, Netherlands, Indonesia, and Kenya, among others. The rollout also introduces new features like a “Switch to video” button, allowing users to switch between an audio track and its accompanying video. Premium subscribers can check if they have access by looking for the “Switch to video” option when playing supported tracks.

"Spotify is also adding new features to make the music videos in beta experience even better. These include: Fans can easily find and discover new music videos to watch (on mobile and desktop) with video indicators on tracks. Users can also more easily find the music video they’re looking for alongside its related track by typing the track or artist into search."

Spotify’s video catalogue remains limited, but users are now able to identify tracks that have music videos through on-screen indicators. The feature resembles a similar function on YouTube Music, which also allows users to toggle between music videos and audio-only streams.

  1. For tracks that have music videos, simply tap the "Switch to video" button. The video will start playing right in the Now Playing screen, continuing from where the audio left off.
  2. To switch back to just the music, tap "Switch to audio" and return to background listening. You can also enjoy the video in full-screen mode by rotating your mobile device to landscape.

Spotify first launched its video feature in March, starting with a handful of countries like the UK, Germany, and Brazil. With the latest addition of 85 regions, the feature will be available in 97 markets globally.
