Music Production for Women and DistroKid have teamed up to offer a series of free music production masterclasses across four major cities in July. The EmpowHer Sound US Tour will visit Santa Cruz, Los Angeles, Nashville, and New York, providing beginner-level sessions focused on Beatmaking, Audio Effects, and Synthesis.
The workshops, designed to empower female and non-gender conforming musicians, will be led by MPW’s founder and CEO, Xylo Aria, an award-winning music producer and educator.
The tour is set to take place at the following locations:
- Santa Cruz: July 11th at UCSC
- Los Angeles: July 13th at The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music
- Nashville: July 15th at AB Hillsboro Village
- New York: July 20th at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute
Thanks to sponsorship from Novation, Sonnox, Kilohearts, and DistroKid, attendance is free until venue capacities are reached. Participants will also have the opportunity to win prizes, including an SE Electronics X1A Microphone Bundle, a Novation Launchkey Mini, and Kilohearts plugins valued at over $700.
“When you’re new to the music production space, it can often feel overwhelming to know where to start and how to start building a network,” Xylo Aria said in a press release. “We designed these events to be that perfect first step where artists, particularly women, can get a taste of music production, while making new friends in a safe and encouraging space.”
MPW has gained recognition for its commitment to empowering women in music technology. Since its inception five years ago, the organisation has provided workshops and courses to over 8,000 musicians from more than 120 countries. MPW’s efforts have earned it several accolades, including being named on the Top 50 Innovators of East London list in 2020 and making Xylo Aria a finalist in the She Said So Alt Power List and the IABCA’s Young Professional of the Year Award in 2023 and 2024.
